History

At Cinnamon Brow C of E Primary School, we believe that history should inspire children’s curiosity about the past and develop them as confident, thoughtful historians. Through an ambitious, enquiry-led curriculum, pupils explore significant people, events and societies from local, British and world history, developing a secure understanding of chronology and how the past has shaped the world we live in today. Children are encouraged to ask perceptive questions, analyse historical evidence, consider different interpretations and communicate their ideas using accurate historical vocabulary. Through discussion, oracy, enquiry and first-hand experiences, pupils learn to make meaningful connections across periods of history, developing their understanding of change, continuity, cause and consequence while gaining a deeper appreciation of diverse societies, cultures and communities.
