Curriculum Drivers

Cinnamon Brow CE Primary School Curriculum Drivers

At Cinnamon Brow CE Primary School, our curriculum is shaped by our Christian vision:

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11

Our vision inspires us to provide an excellent, broad and balanced education that enables every child to flourish. To ensure our curriculum goes beyond the National Curriculum and reflects what is important to our school community, we have developed four curriculum drivers:

  • Possibilities
  • Spirituality
  • Diversity
  • Community

These drivers are woven throughout our curriculum and help to prepare children for life in modern Britain and the wider world. They influence what we teach, the experiences we provide and the opportunities available to our pupils.

Possibilities

We want every child to receive a broad range of opportunities that will inspire them to aim high and believe in their future potential.

Through this driver, we seek to:

  • Broaden pupils' horizons.
  • Raise aspirations.
  • Develop resilience and determination.
  • Build confidence and self-belief.
  • Encourage children to explore new interests and talents.
  • Help pupils understand the possibilities available to them in the future.

We want children to know that, whatever their starting point, they can achieve great things and make a positive contribution to the world around them.

Our Christian values of Hope and Perseverance are at the heart of this driver.

Spirituality

We want every child to develop a sense of wonder, reflection and curiosity about themselves, others and the world around them.

Through this driver, pupils are encouraged to:

  • Explore life's big questions.
  • Reflect on their own beliefs, values and experiences.
  • Develop awe and wonder.
  • Learn from challenge and adversity.
  • Consider how their beliefs influence their actions.
  • Listen respectfully to the views of others.

Spiritual development takes place across the curriculum through collective worship, Religious Education, reflection opportunities and rich learning experiences.

Our Christian values of Thankfulness, Compassion and Hope are central to this driver.

Diversity

We believe that every child should develop an understanding, appreciation and respect for the richness of diversity in our society and across the world.

Through this driver, pupils:

  • Learn about different cultures, faiths and traditions.
  • Challenge stereotypes and misconceptions.
  • Develop empathy and understanding.
  • Celebrate difference.
  • Learn about equality and inclusion.
  • Develop the confidence to stand up for what is right.

Key opportunities include:

  • Black History Month
  • Inclusion Week
  • Interfaith Learning
  • Global Neighbours Award activities
  • Global Citizen projects

We encourage our children to become compassionate and courageous advocates who seek to make a positive difference for others.

Our Christian values of Respect and Compassion underpin this driver.

Community

We want every child to understand that they are part of a wider community and that their actions can have a positive impact on those around them.

Through this driver, pupils:

  • Develop strong relationships.
  • Learn to work collaboratively.
  • Understand the importance of belonging.
  • Show respect for others.
  • Promote forgiveness and reconciliation.
  • Contribute positively to their local and global communities.
  • Take responsibility for helping others to flourish.

Children are encouraged to serve others and become active citizens who make a positive difference within school, the local community and beyond.

Opportunities linked to this driver include:

  • Church partnerships
  • Community events
  • Global Neighbours Award work
  • Fairtrade activities
  • Interfaith projects

Our Christian values of Forgiveness, Respect and Hope are woven throughout this driver.

Bringing Our Curriculum to Life

Our curriculum drivers can be seen across every subject, enrichment opportunity and wider school experience. They help us ensure that our children leave Cinnamon Brow as:

  • Aspirational learners.
  • Thoughtful and reflective individuals.
  • Respectful citizens who value diversity.
  • Active members of their communities.
  • Young people who face the future with confidence, hope and a sense of purpose.

Through our curriculum, we aim to fulfil our vision of enabling every child to flourish and develop the knowledge, skills and character needed for their future.
